Semantic Technologies for transparent politics?
(by Frank van Harmelen)
An unexpected (at least for me) potential application of Semantic Web technology: CongressFacebook provides a mash-up of many different data-sources about American legislators, their contacts, their voting behaviour, etc. A good write-up of this on the Programmable Web.
The current CongressFacebook doesn’t employ much semantics, but as with any mash-up, there are lots of opportunities to use semantics for improving the linking of the datasources.
Would make a good use-case in a future EU project?
More seriously, this is an application area of semantic technologies (and hence of LarKC) I hadn’t noticed before.
