SPARQL benchmark and SW statistics

(by Eyal)

During the LarKC meeting, I mentioned the recently published Berlin benchmark of RDF stores and RDBs on SPARQL queries, a good overview of some of the current triple stores. Note again that the results for the relational mappings (eg MySQL, D2R) are not directly comparable, since these use a fixed representation of the domain (they cannot store arbitrary triples). That may be enough functionality in many cases, but it’s not the same as a generic triple store.

Also interesting, a recent paper on Semantic Web statistics, in a history of other papers to investigate properties of decentralised SW data and to learn how and what to count. I believe analysing datasets is growing into a really challenging and interesting task.
